This is the research archive of David Žižek. I'm a writer who mainly covers politics, but also sometimes dives into other topics, such as history or philosophy. My main creative outlet is my Substack publication, Contemplating the Current, but I also have a Bluesky account and this website. Here you’ll find:

Ukrainian History
After the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, I became interested in the historical background of the hostilities. It took me a few years, but eventually, I really looked into it and took extensive notes. I'm very proud of the resulting 22 documents that I uploaded here, alongside supplementary material. The successor to that project is currently in the works. It will delve into Ukrainian intellectual history in particular; for more on that, read: Intellectual History
Austrian Politics
As someone who lives in Austria, I have a lot of opinions and takes on what goes on in the country. Some of those will appear in the folder I dedicated to it.
Discourse Analysis
A large chunk of politics is being informed on the topics being discussed and the arguments given in favor of specific policies. However, one cannot take adequately informed political positions without also understanding the mechanics of the discourse surrounding these topics. This is the main purpose of my work in that direction.
